MMC Norilsk Nickel and All-Russian Non-governmental Organisation Association of Lawyers of Russia (ALRF) have entered into a cooperation agreement.

The document was signed by Vladimir Gruzdev, Chairman of the Board, ALRF, and Dmitry Pristanskov, State Secretary — Vice President, Nornickel, at the St Petersburg International Economic Forum.

The agreement provides for cooperation in preparing proposals on how to enhance the competitive advantage of the Russian jurisdiction and foster investment climate in the country, to facilitate the improvement of legal framework for protecting and promoting investments, and to share best practices during mutual consultations, thematic forums and conferences.

According to Dmitry Pristanskov, the immediate focus of the Government, businesses and communities today is on the country’s breakthrough development. “To implement national projects, all the parties involved are required to take the most active approach in a variety of areas. We are talking about large-scale investment and environmental projects involving the use of the best available technologies, including those implemented in the Russian Arctic. It is about digital transformation and reducing environmental footprint.

To succeed, we need better legislation and law enforcement to maintain the stability of fiscal, regulatory and other policies as we proceed with development programmes. I am confident that our cooperation with the ALRF will take these initiatives to a new professional level,” said Nornickel’s Vice President.

According to Vladimir Gruzdev, this cooperation will be instrumental in promoting the common interests of those involved. “We are strongly interested in corporate law development. And Nornickel, as one of the leading companies and one of the few private ones traded both on Moscow Exchange and on foreign trading floors, attracts investors because of its commitment to the highest standards,” he said.
